19th Century Oil on Canvas - Naive Folk Art Painting of Homestead
Mix up antique folk art pieces with modern pieces. It all works together. Found in Connecticut, this circa 1860 oil on canvas genre painting done in a naive manner by an untrained artist. Excellent example of early Americana with a gentleman laboring over a water well with a home in the background Apparently unsigned. Antique period wood frame. Painting is in good condition with normal wear from age, including craquelure throughout. Under black light, the painting appears to be untouched. Painting could be cleaned however we left it as found. Frame appears to be original and has wear from age. Frame has been untouched and could also be cleaned. It has an old hole on it's top, likely from an antiquated method of displaying the piece.
